About JFSNS
In 1897, four women gathered in one of their living rooms in Lynn, Massachusetts to discuss how they could help Jewish families who were emigrating from Eastern Europe to work in the mills of Lynn. From this humble beginning, Jewish Family Service of the North Shore has been meeting the needs of the Jewish community and, over the past twenty years, the entire North Shore community.
Our Vision
We will strengthen our community through strengthening the family.
Our Mission
- We will strengthen families by providing the services they need to move through life's stages and challenges.
- We will strengthen individuals by teaching skills that apply for a lifetime.
- We follow the Jewish tradition of "tikkun olam" (perfecting the world) by providing all of our services on a non-sectarian basis.
The core purpose of Jewish Family Service of the North Shore is to improve the quality of peoples' lives through compassion, caring and responsibility for each other within, and on behalf of, the North Shore Jewish Community.
As a member of the board, staff or as a volunteer of Jewish Family Service of the North Shore we agree to work and behave in accordance with the core values:
1. To provide support to any Jewish family or individual who is in need.
2. To provide appropriate support for individuals and families who are most in need, without regard to faith.
3. To provide the highest quality of work possible.
4. To show respect and preserve the dignity of everyone with whom we interact.
5. To act with compassion and exhibit a non-judgmental attitude toward those with whom we interact.
