Emergency Financial Assistance (back to top)

The Emergency Financial Assistance program provides assistance to individuals and families to help them to meet their basic needs. If you are facing financial challenges, Jewish Family Service will work with you to determine if you are eligible for financial assistance. Once your eligibility is established, we can often access emergency funds to provide short-term assistance for mortgage/rent, energy, utility bills, or medical bills. We can also refer you to other helpful resources in our network for assistance.

To learn more about emergency financial assistance, please contact Susan Berliner at (978) 564-0766 or sberliner@jfsns.org.

Stanley Black Oil Assistance Program (back to top)

The Peter J. Lappin Philanthropic Fund has created the Stanley D. Black Oil Assistance Program with Jewish Family Service of the North Shore. Through their generous donation of heating oil, they have made it possible for us to offer eligible individuals or families assistance with one tank of oil this winter.

To learn more about this program and to inquire about eligibility please contact
Susan Berliner at (978) 564-0766 or sberliner@jfsns.org.

Food Pantry (back to top)

The Magic of Mitzvah Kosher Food Pantry began in 1997 for the purpose of helping North Shore Jewish families in need. All food is Kosher dairy or vegetarian to help keep with dietary laws. The pantry collects non-perishable Kosher food products from institutional food drives and individual donations and distributes them to people in need.

To find out more about applying for food assistance please contact Susan Berliner at (978) 564-0766 or sberliner@jfsns.org.

Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of activities at our food pantry. Activities may include coordinating with a local Jewish institution to conduct a food drive, transporting donated food from an institution to the food pantry, sorting and preparing food for delivery the first Sunday of each month (unless it is a holiday) or delivering food to a Jewish Family.

Please contact Alyse Barbash at Abarb12084@aol.com for food pantry volunteer information.

Kosher Meals on Wheels (back to top)

The Kosher Meals on Wheels Program provides daily Monday-through-Friday delivery of low salt, low sugar Kosher meals to homebound seniors who currently observe Kashrut. All meals are prepared under rabbinical supervision in the kitchen of the Woodbridge Assisted Living Facility in Peabody, Massachusetts. Program participants are asked to voluntarily contribute $2.00 towards the cost of each meal delivered.

For more information, please contact Pamela Braverman at (978) 564-0765 or pbraverman@jfsns.org.
