Friends Campaign (back to top)

Feeding the hungry, supporting programs that strengthen our families, enabling the elderly and disabled to live in their homes - these activities define who we are, and what we believe.

Participating in our Annual Friend's Campaign can help to support our efforts and our community. While Jewish Family Service gratefully accepts all contributions, suggested giving levels include:

$1200: Present the gift of a home safety evaluation for an elderly person in the community.

$500: Support Jewish programs for the entire community, bringing together teens and seniors to make homentashen for recipients of Meals on Wheels, or training Jewish volunteers to visit our community members in local hospitals and nursing homes.

$250: Enable the delivery of a one-month supply of Kosher Meals on Wheels.

$150: Contribute kosher food and other necessities for a family in need for two weeks.

$75: Make a donation to further the good work of the Jewish Family Service of the North Shore.

Make a donation by PayPal in your preferred amount to further the good work of the Jewish Family Service of the North Shore. Contributions of any size are welcomed and appreciated.

Mitzvah Basket Program (back to top)

See our flyer and order form by clicking here!

Put the "mitzvah" in your Bar or Bat Mitzvah with our Mitzvah Baskets - and share your celebration with those in need! Filled with non-perishable food items, the baskets can be used as centerpieces for any special occasion - Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, showers, luncheons, or family parties.

The centerpiece baskets are available in two sizes for $36 and $54 each and a bimah basket for $118. A local designer professionally creates the baskets to your specifications, including decorative cellophane, ribbons and balloons. Jewish Family Service will pick up the baskets after your event so the items can be distributed through our Kosher Food Pantry. Delivery to the site of the event is also available.

For more information please email Marion Guiffre at mguiffre@jfsns.org.

Food Donations (back to top)

Give the gift of food! We provide food assistance to eligible individuals and families who are facing financial crises. There are several ways that you can help with this critical endeavor.
The Magic of Mitzvah Kosher Food Pantry is always in need of food donations. Please bring your gifts of Kosher dairy or vegetarian non-perishable food items to either the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Marblehead or contact the Director, Alyse Barbash at 978.564.0780 or abarb12084@aol.com.

Grocery Gift Cards (back to top)

Contribute gift cards from local grocery stores such as Stop and Shop or Shaw’s. Gift cards enable people to purchase what they need, when they need it. If you would like to contribute a gift card, please send it to:

Tribute Cards (back to top)

A tribute card is a convenient and thoughtful way to acknowledge any occasion in the lives of others and support the fine work of Jewish Family Service. JFSNS has commissioned an artist to create beautiful cards for all occasions:

“In honor of…”
“In celebration of…”
“In memory of…”
“For a speedy recovery of…”

Begin participating in our tribute card program by making a donation in any amount to JFSNS. Please note the occasion, and include both your and the recipients’ name, address, phone number and JFSNS will send out the card on your behalf.

Please contact Marion at (978) 564-0750 or mguiffre@jfsns.org for more information.

Volunteering (back to top)

There are many ways to support your community, and we offer the following volunteer opportunities.

Share your talents!

Would you like to "partner" with JFSNS by donating your legal, accounting, career coaching, resume consultation, medical, dental, shoveling and gardening or other skills to those we serve? If you have "pro bono" skills to you would like to share, JFSNS would like to match you with people who really need them.

Please contact kgraul@jfsns.org.

Bikkur Cholim (visiting the sick)
Volunteers are trained to visit Jewish patients in local hospitals, rehabilitation centers or nursing homes. The training prepares each volunteer to become a "volunteer Chaplain”. A ten-hour training is provided by North Shore Medical Center and a local Rabbi.

For more information please contact kgraul@jfsns.org.

Gemilut Hassadim (Acts of love and kindness)
This is a collaborative volunteer program with the Hospice of the North Shore. Volunteers are trained for a variety of Hospice activities, including visiting patients, assisting the patient's family or working behind the scenes in the Hospice office. An eighteen-hour training is provided by Hospice and a local Rabbi.

For more information please contact kgraul@jfsns.org.

Companion program
Give the gift of time, and let us train you to be a home companion for an aging member of the community who would love your company and your companionship on shopping or medical trips.

For more information please contact kgraul@jfsns.org.

The Magic of Mitzvah (Kosher Food Pantry)
Volunteer opportunities are available for a variety of activities at our food pantry. Activities may include coordinating with a local Jewish institution to conduct a food drive, transporting donated food from an institution to the food pantry, sorting and preparing food for delivery the first Sunday of each month (unless it is a holiday) or delivering food to a Jewish Family.

Please contact Alyse Barbash at Abarb12084@aol.com for more information.

Office Volunteers
Volunteers are needed on a periodic basis to help in preparing and organizing mass mailings or answering the telephone. We are also in need of volunteers with computer expertise to help maintain our website and our databases for various activities.
